The Irving Police Association Donations

The Irving Police Association (IPA) prides itself on giving back to its members and the community.  Over the years, the IPA has been there for their members by giving back in the form of donations.  This may be due to a catastrophic event like a fire, death or serious illness.  This may have been a direct donation to the member, or it may have been an indirect donation from purchasing food and the use of the hall for a benefit BBQ, poker tournament, or golf tournament where the total funds raised went to that person or family.  The IPA further gives back to its members in the form of two $500 college scholarships given each year to member’s children, to which more than $10,000 has been donated.

In the spirit of giving back to the members and non-members, donations are made to recognize National Police Employee appreciation weeks:

  • National Correctional Officer Week-for Irving Correctional Officers
  • National Telecommunication Week-for Irving dispatchers

Irving Police Association Benefit (Charities)

Many years ago, the Irving Police Association saw the need to get more involved in the community and with the citizens of Irving, so the Irving Police Association Benefit was born.  This began with a small golf tournament. As the years went by, they began partnering with different organizations until they found the Make-A-Wish Foundation of North Texas©.  The Make-A-Wish Foundation of North Texas main office, or the Wishing Palace, is located in Irving.  The IPAB began a lasting partnership with them that has spanned over 10 years.  This golf tournament is the main fundraiser for the IPAB and has grown so much that we have to run two courses with approximately 200 golfers each year.

Five years ago, the IPAB partnered with Area Special Olympic Teams to host a poker tournament to raise needed funds for these teams.  These are partnerships, which means that they spilt the funds raised.  The IPAB retains 25% of the funds raised so that they can donate to other organizations that are close to our police family.  Without these tournaments, the IPAB would not have the funds to donate to other organizations that are close to the hearts of our members.

These include, but are not limited to.

  • Make-A-Wish Foundation of North Texas
  • NYC Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association Widows
  • Irving Police Awards Banquet
  • Irving Family Advocacy Center
  • Irving Blue Christmas
  • Irving Police Athletic League
  • Mothers Against Drunk Drivers
  • Irving Police Explorers
  • Andrew Esparza Memorial
  • Texas Municipal Police Association  (TMPA) Charities
  • Grand Prairie Police Benevolent Association
  • Guns and Hoses
  • Texas Special Olympics
  • Concerns of Police Survives
  • Assist the Officer Foundation
  • Secret Service Memorial
  • Texas Police Officer Memorial Foundation
  • Area Special Olympic Teams
  • Friends of Cops
  • Andrew Hawkins Trust Fund

To date, the Irving Police Association Benefit has donated over $260,000 to many worthy causes and its members.

Irving Police Association Benefit (IPAB) is a 501(c)3 organization and is a separate entity within the Irving Police Association.
